Is The LG GW990 A Game Changer?

LG GW990The LG GW990 is scheduled to be in retail stores some time during the third or fourth quarters of 2010. This next generation handset has generated a ton of buzz, interest and discussion. It will be one of first phones of its kind available for sale.

The GW990 is a mobile internet device that runs on the Linux based Moblin 2.1 operating system. It has a huge 4.8 inch full touchscreen display with 1024 x 480 resolution. It supports LTE 4G Tech and has a 2.13:1 aspect ratio. It combines the ability to peruse or surf the internet and the performance of a personal computer with the smartphones’ mobility according to a statement made by LG.

The phone comes with 512 MB Ram and 16 GB flash memory.  Individuals are able to purchase more memory if they need it and add it to the phone via the microSD card slot. As stated above, the phone will run on the Moblin operating system and is a 3G Network handset. It will be powered by an 1850 mAh battery.

The LG GW990 mobile phone was recently demoed by Paul Otellini during his Intel CES talk. It was the first such demonstration and has helped generate a ton of interest and excitement in the new LG MID.

The LG GW990 wont’ hit stores into the latter part of this year (2010).  However, there is already a ton of buzz and excitement concerning this phone. It looks really impressive based on its specs. However, most people realize that specs never tell the entire store. The phone will ultimately be judged based on how well it operates. That being said, the 4.8 inch screen is pretty unbelievable. Many handset displays aren’t half that size. Also, the PC-like features also seem really promising. LG is touting the handset’s ability to perform many of the functions of a PC. It looks like we will just have to wait and see if form successfully translates into function and what GW990 deals will become available.
