The HTC 7 Mozart Comes With Strong And Unique Construction

The Taiwanese company HTC created their new 7 Mozart with higher quality than usual. It also has a new operating system to run it. Discover the features of the HTC 7 Mozart here in this snappy article.

The HTC engineers created the 7 Mozart with a unibody construction. The back of the handset shows an assymetrical construction with a mix of aluminum and plastic. Some could call it “artsy”. The size is not too large for a pocket or purse. The 3.7 inch screen is nearly fully featured with an acceleromter and proximity sensor. There is no Swype input and no manual keyboard for the 7 Mozart.

Looking on the inside, there is a fast one gigahertz processor made by the popular chip company Qualcomm. This is accompanied by 576 megabytes of RAM and 512 of ROM. All the former features help to give the HTC 7 Mozart speedy operation while opening and closing programs or during navigation. Internal memory is rated for eight gigabytes. There is no external storage available, that is, no MicroSD card slot.

One of the strong points of the HTC 7 Mozart is its camera. It is eight megapixels in power. It was given a Xenon flash instead of a LED style. This is superior to LED for taking photographs. There is also geo tagging, auto focus, face detection and video. The camera is competent enough to support high definition video in 720p format. The only problem will be getting those videos to other places, since there is no MicroSD card slot and no HDMI connector on the 7 Mozart.

The new Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system is running the HTC 7 Mozart. This is a redo of the older 6.5.3 and provides a hub connection system for easier navigation. It supports social networking sites as well as the regular Microsoft browser and word processing documents. Bing maps are included for free. The HTC Desire Z Brings Desire to Higher Desirability

Taiwan-based leader in smartphones HTC unveils its second full-QWERTY slider Android in the HTC Desire Z, a good 18 months after the first, the HTC Dream. Running the latest Android v2.2 Froyo, the new handset is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7230 engine clocked at 800 MHz. That’s a bit less muscled than the 1 GHz Snapdragon of the HTC Desire. From the aesthetics, it’s really a Desire that grew a QWERTY keyboard slider.

Great Flagship Features

Looking like the Desire when closed, the HTC Desire Z actually has the same the feature of the HTC Desire HD which is only distinguished by its larger 4.3-inch screen display. Instead you get a 3.7-inch capacitive S-LCD touchscreen with multitouch, WVGA (480 x 80) resolution, 16 million colors, accelerometer and proximity sensors.

Despite a set of flagship features, it is positioned as a more modest option than either the earlier Desire or its successor the Desire HD. It also boasts of social networking prowess that comes with Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, YouTube and Google talk integration.

The new HTC Desire Z is a cornucopia of data and telephony connectivity options. It’s 3G handset on the dual band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA and a quad band GSM on 2G with class 32 GPRS/EDGE data speeds. Local connectivity gets WiFi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and microUSB v2.0 including GPS SatNav with A-GPS support.

Imaging gets a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, face detection, geo tagging and video recording at 720p high definition while mobile entertainment gets the usual media playback features, a stereo FM radio with RDS and headphone listening in either wired (3.5mm jack) or wireless (A2DP) mode.

Internal memory gets 1.5 GB with 512 MB RAM and microSD expansion for up to 32GB. Its li-ion batters rated at 1300 mAh delivers up to 9.8 hours of call time on 2G, 6.6 hours on 3G with 430 hours on standby.

Apple: Issuing the Wrong Challenge

There are plenty of design issues with mobile phones that certainly could use being addressed, and none of these universal concerns need to be urgently fixed.

Apple, however, certainly believes that they are not alone when it comes to suffering from an antenna issue. Steve Jobs stated that the issue is a challenge to the whole industry. What Apple seems to have forgotten is that with the literally thousands of unique handsets out there, only they are suffering from an antenna issue.

Sure, other mobile phones will lose a bar of signal, or even two, if it is held in a unique way. But none of these devices would actually drop user calls. The iPhone 4 however, is likely to drop a call if held in the left hand –a position where the exposed antenna strip is located. To state that the issue is an industry challenge is a long stretch, even for a company as Apple.

To further support their claim, Steve Jobs has also pointed out several mobile phones which are apparently suffering from antenna issues as well. Included in the presentation was the BlackBerry Bold 9700, the Samsung Omnia 2 and an HTC Android smart phone.

However, none of these devices have a history of massive call drops similar to what the Apple iPhone 4 is suffering from. And the makers of the various phones are not too happy being dragged into the mess that Apple is already into.

Research in Motion, creators of the BlackBerry, is among the first to speak up about the matter. They released an open letter that directly addressed the issue of antenna performance and clearly stated that no BlackBerry handset requires the use of a casing to be used properly.

They are quite right, in fact, aside from the iPhone 4, there is hardly any other device that requires a casing to function right.

A Sinful Obsession: The HTC Desire

While a majority of mainstream mobile phone users have been consuming the pop phenomenon that is the iPhone, a relative newcomer is slowly making its way up – the hard way that is. With the HTC Desire, the Taiwan-based manufacturer is taking the more conventional path towards the consumer’s hearts – by coming up with a device that is not only all bark, but also has a lot of bite to go with it.

Making Waves

Let’s get things straight. We’re not claiming that the iPhone (in particular) doesn’t have the goods to back up the entire buzz that has and continues to surround it to this day. We actually believe otherwise as we consider it to be one of the greatest inventions of the modern age. However, we just think that the HTC Desire is a much better mobile phone. Why, might you ask? Well, we can give you two very good reasons.

Feature-Filled

The HTC Desire is definitely one of the most impressive Smartphones in the market simply because of its awesome set of features. For starters, its 3.7” AMOLED touch screen display delivers the most vivid image outputs at an amazing 480 x 800 pixels. It also has a cutting edge 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon for its processor which remains to be the most powerful in the market. And, there’s even an above-average 5-Megapixel snapper on board which can snap excellent quality photos. Last but not least, the Desire has the Google Android mobile operating system on board – enough said.

Value for Money

If that’s not impressive enough for you then maybe you should know that the HTC Desire retails at average price of £400. This means that at this considerably reasonable price, you’d be able to get all of the top-of-the-line features you’d expect from a Smartphone of this calibre. Or there are, of course, any number of great HTC Desire deals that’ll save you from having to make that one big expenditure. If you asked us, we’d rather go for the Desire than to spend a good 500 odd pounds for say, an iPhone 3GS.

Android 2.2 for HTC Desire Delayed to Q3 2010

Google’s Android is going to have trouble playing catch up to the already launched Apple iPhone 4 as the updates to several handsets has been announced to be delayed.

Originally, the first handset to have the new Froyo OS is the Google Nexus One, and it was expected that the HTC Desire (one of the best Android devices available) would also be getting a patch after a week. This did not push through and it appears that owners of the HTC made smart phone will have to wait for a while before an official 2.2 update gets released.

So far, the tale of the Android updates has been one of constant waiting and delays for many eager and excited users.

In terms of performance and capabilities, it is pretty hard to beat the Nexus One –featuring capabilities and add-ons that would make both casual and hardcore users happy, the Android OS has never been considered as lacking. But as for the release dates, Google has plenty of issues to deal with.

And the fact that when the updates do come out, they still suffer from compatibility issues. Fans would patiently wait for a delayed launch date if it meant that the final build will have fewer issues and no major compatibility problems. With the Android that is not the case.

For those who did not catch the reviews and coverage on the HTC Desire Android smart phone, here is a quick recap of the handset’s specs and figures. The phone comes with a nice big 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screen display, a 5 mega pixel camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz CPU, and of course, the Android 2.1 Éclair. The OS sports plenty of impressive Google features (such as Google Maps, Google Chat, Google Mail, Google Goggles, Street View, and others); it also uses the HTC Sense user interface.

October will See the Launch of Windows Phone 7

Microsoft’s new mobile platform is due to arrive on October and from the looks of it, several handsets will be ready by that time.

It is already known that the LG Panther has been ready for the past few months. A mock version of the device has already been seen as early as March while what seems to be final version of the smart phone has been seen in images in the recent weeks. And the Korean manufacturer is not the only one making a WP7 device. Taiwan based HTC has dropped two names, the Mozart and the Mondrian as WP7 handsets, though no details were given if the two phones were indeed separate or this is simply one device with two nicknames. Sony Ericsson’s name has also been added to the list with the announcement of the SE Jolie.

The new operating system from Microsoft focuses heavily on general users. While the older Windows Mobile operating system is a more business-centric mobile platform, the WP7 leans towards media playback, internet access, social networking, games and general functionality.

Considering the most recent demonstrations of the operating system, WP7 has proven to be a well composed OS, with various functions leading and linking towards each other. Users can jump from the map to the contact list to the calendar if the user has associated linked entries for the various contents.

In the above trail, a map could potentially show the addresses of nearby contacts that when clicked, can bring up the details of the individual. From there, a user can set a schedule to visit, call or simple email the contact and have the task marked on the calendar. All of these processes are done directly, without having to go back to the home screen even once.

Expect to see more updates regarding Windows Phone 7 as October approaches.

Nexus One Available on Retail

If you still have not purchased a Nexus One, now is as great a time as any. There are now a lot of independent retailers that stock the Google branded Android smart phone.

The device was first launched in the US last January 5. The unveiling event at the Googleplex gave the media a chance to see the new handset up close and also for the developers to showcase some of the newest features. However, along with the launch came the announcement that the device would only be available through the Google online store –which many tech reviewers saw a red flag for the success of the Android device.

As expected, the sales of the Nexus One were hardly anywhere near impressive. Google only managed to sell 20,000 units by the first week of sales. The company then took a different approach to the marketing of the Google Phone in the UK, the device would be offered directly by Vodafone and later on, by retailers. That time has already come; retailers now stock the Nexus One on store shelves and also on websites for online orders. In fact many of the best Nexus One deals can be found online.

This Google branded handset has been manufactured by HTC and has a spec sheet that closely resembles that of the HTC Desire (formerly HTC Bravo). Both handsets come with 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screens, 5 mega pixel cameras and 1GHz Snapdragon CPUs.

The new Android 2.2 Froyo is already available for Nexus One (and only for the Nexus One). This OS update makes the mobile platform up to five times faster thanks to the implementation of the new Dalvik VM JIT. It also has a fast web browser by using V8 which allows for better handling of JavaScript. Android owners will also be happy to know that this update will allow the use of the smart phone for USB tethering or even as a WiFi hotspot.

3 UK Gets 3 New Phones

Mobile network operator 3 mobile has recently announced that they will be offering three new devices to their already impressive lineup of mobile phones.

First up is the LG Viewty. This device comes with a 3 inch touch screen display and a 5 mega pixel snapper. It also has an FM radio (aside from the usual media playback capabilities for video and MP3), Microsoft Outlook with PC sync, and a built in photo editor. The resistive touch screen might be a little backwards in terms of technology, but at least the device has its own stylus. The Viewty is available right now.

The second device on 3’s list is the BlackBerry Pearl 3G. The new 3G edition of the Pearl looks very much like the original device down to the 12 button keyboard layout but this new edition comes with a slightly larger touch screen display. 3 UK has yet to announce a specific date for the launch of the Pearl 3G.

Last on the lineup is the HTC Wildfire. This impressive Android smart phone from Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has been in the headlines recently for its excellent balance of specs and more importantly, price. With the rest of HTC’s smart phone lineup being composed of really expensive high end gadgets, it is about time that they released a device for the mid range crowd.

According to the reports, the Wildfire is focused heavily on social networking features. It has a life streaming feed of social networking updates that will bring users up to date with all the latest happenings easily. The device comes with a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen, a 5 mega pixel camera, a 528 MHz CPU and of course, the latest Android OS, version 2.1 Éclair. 3 UK has announced that the date for the Wildfire’s launch will be given soon.

HTC WP7 Device Details Released

Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Phone 7 mobile platform is due to come out later this year. LG has already revealed the details on their Panther handset –making it the very first WP7 device to be formally announced and now, HTC is joining the roster.

The HTC Mondrian smart phone is more than just an upcoming WP7 handset, it is also the first handset to be announced that will have a CPU running over 1GHz, the QSD8650-A Snapdragon processor that will be used in the Mondrian is clocked at a speed of 1.3 GHz –this hardware will prove to be useful specially when it comes to the gaming capabilities of the mobile platform. It has already been shown that the new OS will have 3D games. Microsoft’s XNA technology will allow for full 3D games to be playable even on a mobile phone.

Other details of the device include a 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen display and a camera with video and image recording capabilities. Of course, usual smart phone features such as Bluetooth, GPS, media playback, 2G/3G support and more are present in the Mondrian.

This device is definitely remarkable because of its high speed CPU. Though there are also rumors that a dual core Snapdragon may be in the works, the real focus is on technology that already exists.

In other HTC related news, the Taiwanese company is suing Apple for 5 patents that have been used in Apple’s touch screen devices. With Apple previously filing a similar case against HTC (which included 20 patents for hardware and software technologies), it makes perfect sense that they will now file their countersuit. The company has recently teamed up with Microsoft –presumably to arrange a deal for using MS patents. Many believe that with this move, HTC has secured its position against the larger Cupertino based operating system.

HTC Wildfire comes to the UK

HTC WildfireThe HTC Wildfire is to be released in the UK as soon as the end of June Phones Blogged understands. The HTC Wildfire is essentially a stripped down version of the HTC Desire which will ultimately allow more people to enjoy the Android functionality dream. The Wildfire will allow users to get the most out of the many thousands of Apps without having to spend a mind blowing amount of money. OK it has a smaller screen and a slower chipset, but this shouldn’t put you off. You do get an awful lot of smartphone for your money. Incidentally it is expected to be free on a £20.00 per month contract when it is released later this year, although it is still unknown which network will get the exclusivity deal on it. Our bet is that T-Mobile will get it though. As soon as we know more we will let you know. If you want to sign up to be notified when it is available you can head on over to Best Mobile Contracts and sign up for updates. Enjoy!
