Samsung M7600 BeatDJ

The Samsung M7600 BEAT DJ is one of the two music – centric handsets, more focused on the DJ market, that were revealed by Samsung during the Mobile World Congress 2009.
The Samsung M7600 BEAT DJ, which has 3G connectivity onboard, is a uniquely shaped touchscreen phone which makes use of the most recent TouchWiz UI. It has a 3 MPIX camera with autofocus. Videos can be recorded in VGA quality at 15 fps, a 2.8 inch OLED touchscreen and a GPS receiver.
In what is a strategic partnership, Bang&Olufsen is providing the speakers, which saves quite some energy, but the main feature of the phone is the BeatDJ app and the new music player known as the Disk UI.
The Beat DJ turns your phone into a mini DJ deck – it’s basically a program which enables you to change a song with some scratching, filters, effects and sampling. You can even ‘roll’ the disc just like a real DJ does on the phone itself, which is quite neat!
The music player, the Disk UI, has a jukebox-style way of browsing through albums, which shows albums like vinyl records with the album art on the front. It’s quite pleasant to see.
The M7600 BEAT DJ also has an accelerometer, a proximity sensor to automatically turn the screen off, DivX/XviD support as well as an FM radio with support for RDS. The 3.5mm headset jack, microSD slot (to extend the memory of the phone) and the FM radio are also part of the package.
As far as what we could see from the Samsung Beat DJ at the MWC, it will be some sure eye-candy and very responsive. However, you can’t use your own clips to mix tracks, but the Samsung people told that they would fix this problem.
