The Nokia N86 Style over substance?
The recently announced Nokia N86 8MP builds on the N-Series reputation. It is a smart phone of a sort, combining everyday functionality of a typical mobile phone, whilst adding in extra media and application functionality into the mix to bring you that little bit extra from your mobile phone. So what is so special about the Nokia N86 then?
The main improvement is in the camera. Where the older Nokia N85 only had a 5 megapixel camera, the all new N86 8MP actually comes equipped with an 8MP camera with auto focus and a Carl Zeiss lens. We expect the picture quality on the N86 to be far superior than on the N85.
Other than that, not much has really changed. You still get the dedicated gaming keys, to make gaming on your handset that much more enjoyable. However we will wait and see if Nokia can make a success of its gaming platform(sales have been sluggish since the N-Gage).
Another feature that stands out is the toughened scratch resistant glass screen that Nokia have decided to implement. We feel that all mobile phones should come with such a screen as I for one know how quickly my mobile phone screen gets ruined whilst it is in my pocket.
The screen is a good size, measuring 2.6 inches with a resolution of 240 X 320 pixels. There is 8GB of internal storage for all your media needs, but this can be expanded up to 16GB using a microSD card. Battery life is also pretty good supporting up to 25 hours of music playback and an impressive talk time of 6.3 hours. Overall we think that the Nokia N86 is set to build on what the N85 did well and we can see nothing wrong with that.
