LG’s BL40 Chocolate – Gearing up as it Nears the Market
With the official announcement of its release by the last quarter of the year, we are still awaiting price and technical information about LG’s new Chocolate phone. Official photos of the LG BL40 Chocolate released by the Korean phone maker LG reveal a few interesting details the company is silent about. We all have speculated on its large widescreen which is also a touchscreen but it not appears to be a vibrant and superb 4-inch 800×345 pixel LCD screen that is identical to the Nokia E90. An accelerometer sensor should be there as the photos show the BL40 in both landscape and portrait orientation.

There’s a front camera indicating it supports 3G and a close look at the icons, if they are actually the homescreen icons, it reveals support for WiFi, Bluetooth and stereo FM radio on top of the usual smartphone features we often take for granted. At the back is a 5-megapixel camera with flash and a Schneider-Kreusnach lens.
All these features get houses in a slim and sexy profile that gets accentuated by a long and narrow black body accommodating its huge 21:9 display. Think Hershey chocolate candy bar. And you get the LG BL40 chocolate in the same form and thinness. This may go down in mobile phone history as the longest and thinnest smartphone to come out of the LG factory.
The huge widescreen display gives the BL40 its signature look and according to LG, gives real advantage when browsing. Its “real VGA” display technology is expected deliver high definition images and video to put users on a much higher viewing plain on their mobile experience. Its proprietary S-class OS and UI puts the expansive screen to use with its dual display mode of differing content types at the same time.

LG has announced availability of the LG BL40 Chocolate by the end of 3rd quarter 2009. That means September. So it shouldn’t be long after all that speculation and anticipation.
