S-Class Touch UI
LG developed the new 3D S-Class user interface feature in the name of S-Class Touch UI. It is found in LG mobile phones such as the LG-KM900 or the LG Arena. The LG Arena was released during the 1st quarter of the year 2009 and became LG Electronics’ flagship multimedia phone.
The launching of the user interface was done along with 3 brand-new LG phones including the LG Arena. The other two phones are LG GM730 and the LG GD900. All of the phones feature a spinning 3D cube, photos grouped by the day they were taken, and an interface called rolodex to allow users to flip through music and photos.
The main menu is a row of icons. Each icon slides sideways to reveal another icon. The rows are grouped together according to a particular category so that users can browse applications easily.
The S-Class Touch UI interface is more emphasized in the market release of the phone Arena. The phone is the first within the S-Class category featuring functionalities of a 3-inch WVGA display, sound by Dolby Mobile, TV-output, WI-Fi Capability, DivX video, and 8GB memory built into the phone. Memory cards are also compatible with the phone with a maximum of 32 GB file space.
The features of the GM730 include a location-based chat service and other windows mobile device applications, plus the S-Class Touch UI. While the GD900 is a touch phone that boasts a unique transparent keypad.
The S-Class Touch UI is a capacitive touch screen that displays its menus similar to that on a film reel. To scroll through the available menu options, the users can drag the finger across the reels to manage menu options. A cube layout is the basic display of the menu options. The 4 home screens group together different mobile phone shortcuts depending on the user’s preferences.
The display switches between portrait and landscape orientations because the S-Class Touch UI reacts with the Arena mobile phone.
