Palm webOS
Palm developed the smartphone platform named Palm webOS. The platform is Linux-based matched with proprietary Palm components.
The introduction of Palm webOS happened at the Consumer Electronics Show which was held in Las Vegas on January 8, 2009. On June 6, it was released in the market. The platform features online social network and web integration programs that are becoming increasingly important to the society.
The invention of Palm webOS is focused on its use for mobile devices. It is relatively new to the market but aims to combine contacts, calendars, and significant information that will be made available to the user at anytime, even in transit. It does not place the limitation on having to stay in front of a computer to be able to perform online activities.
Palm webOS incorporates data from the user’s phone, work, and the internet into a simple view. With this technology, the user can keep up with work and social activities.
The image that Palm products want to emphasize is the ability to simplify lives of users and to bring the best technology experience at the same time. Palm webOS is among the products set to meet these expectations.
One of the key features of Palm webOS is Palm Synergy. This feature integrates information from different sources into a simplified and logical view. The user will not need to track different calendars, separate contact books, and varied messaging applications. A single view that links to all contacts from these varieties of sources is provided.
Accessing a contact and their information is made easy. One similar contact in sources like Outlook, Facebook, and Google are recognized by Palm webOS. The contact’s information will be displayed in one listing. Updating a contact on the webOS device will automatically change and update the online accounts.
Palm webOS also supports combining messages from one person. The user can view the conversations with the same person in a single chat-style view.
