Nokia X6 16GB Released

Nokia X6There are many reasons why you should get a Nokia branded mobile phone. Not only is the device a product of the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, but they are also the most eco-friendly electronics company in the world (as ranked by Greenpeace; Sony Ericsson ranks a close second).

Anyway, value wise, it is hard to go wrong with a Nokia smart phone and given the fact that just recently, the Finnish company announced that they would be offering free sat nav GPS services for all their compatible devices. Now, every single Nokia smart phone with Ovi Maps can work as a dedicated GPS device.

Anyway, just a few months ago, Nokia released the X6 music phone. The 32GB smart phone was designed for music fans and came with a special “Comes with Music” deal which allowed users to download from the Nokia Music Store for free. While it was a great offer for music fans, it was still a pretty expensive deal and not that many people are willing to shell out so much just for a music phone.

Nokia now addresses this by introducing the new Nokia X6 16GB version. Specs wise, the two phones are pretty similar. The X6 comes with a 3.2 inch touch screen display that handles images and videos well. It also has a 5 mega pixel camera that takes high quality photos for uploading and sharing (the Carl Zeiss lens does a great job of bringing detail into images).

Music fans will certainly enjoy the 36 hours of continuous music playback and since the device will not come with the unlimited downloads deal, Nokia offers 25 free tracks to X6 16GB users instead. The phone is expected to arrive on February 24.

Nokia unveil new slide phone expected to hit stores in March 2010.

Nokia 6700 SlideWith the new year many mobile phone companies bring out new and improved phones for sale. Nokia are no exception to this fact. Recently they have announced the details for their new phone, the Nokia Slide 6700. This phone features new technology designed to keep you in touch with family and friends through instant messaging, texting and social networking. The super fast connection speed that is achieved by using 3G allows you to connect to popular sites such as Facebook, MySpace and twitter allowing you to upload new photos, videos or just chat to people.

The 6700 Slide comes with a 5 megapixel camera, which is designed to replace the need to carry around a digital camera with you. The camera is built into the phone it itself so you do not notice it, and yet has the same capabilities as some lower end digital cameras do.

The phone comes in 6 different colors, allowing you to find your individual style and your personal preference. This gives you a lot of choice of coloring, and means that the phone is suitable for any sex. The phone has a huge battery life, around 15 days on standby mode. Whilst playing music, it can last solidly for 29 hours! That’s a huge day and a bit of constant music, perfect for keeping you entertained on long journeys.

So if you want to get your hands on one of these new Nokia phones then wait around until next year to find out a specific release date, but it is expected around March. The expected retail price is £140 before taxes, which is a great price for the phone. There should also be some great Nokia 6700 Slide deals to find online.

2010 Looks Like Another Busy Year For Nokia

Nokia 6700 SlideNokia 6700 Slide and Nokia 7230 announced. The giant phone company introduced two new mobile phones to the market, both 3G Sliders. The Nokia 6700 and then Nokia 7230, the aforementioned, brand new handsets have been introduced to the market at low to mid-range price points. Both are being prepared for sale during the early part of 2010.

The Nokia 6700 is a pretty feature rich phone and is being sold at about €160. It offers users a 16.7 million color display, 2.2″ QVGA display screen, VGA video recording and a 5 megapixel camera. Users will be able edit photos and also upload them to the internet. It has a FM radio, music player and internal memory of 45 MB, which can be expanded an additional 16GB with the use of a microSD card.

The Nokia 7230 does not have as much to offer as the Nokia 6700 and the price reflects that.  This phone is about €60 cheaper. It has a 2.4″ display screen with 267k color display. It comes with a FM radio, alerts for messages and calls. The 7230 also has messaging and its 3.2 megapixel camera comes with a dedicated key.

The price for that the Nokia 6700 is currently at €160. The Nokia 7230 is price at €100. Neither of the phones is available for purchase just yet but Nokia is planning to have them in retail stores, globally, sometime during the first quarter of 2010.

It will be interesting to see how both phones fare when they are finally released. The mobile market is so crowded and so many products are being rolled out on such a consistent basis that it may become difficult to move units especially when some countries are struggling with recessions. Buyers, even tech freaks, are struggling to keep up. At some point, the market will undoubtedly become saturated and mobile phone companies will have to come up with ways to make their products even more unique and purchase worthy.

Nokia N900 or Sony Ericsson Xperia X10?

Nokia N900Christmas is just around the corner and will come and go soon enough, making way for a new year of broken resolutions and bad weather. But despite the bleak winter months ahead 2010 promises to be a good year for mobile phones with some truly jaw-dropping handsets set for release in the first few months alone. Two of the most hotly anticipated phones set for release in early 2010 are the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the Nokia N900.

The Nokia N900 will see a move away from Symbian by Nokia, and some have heralded it as the dawn of a new era as the Finnish company moves to a far superior and advanced OS: Maemo. Unfortunately Nokia has revealed that the N900 will be the only Maemo phone that they will release next year and that Symbian is very much still part of their business plan. While some have taken this as bad news, it actually makes the N900 all the more special.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 on the other hand, will make use of the highly popular and already well established Android and will be the first phone to combine this with the speed and power of a 1GHz Snapdragon. With Android 2.0 Eclair available it is a shame that Sony Ericsson has opted for the older 1.6 Donut edition. Despite this, Sony Ericsson has worked wonders with the X10 through the use of their own Nexus interface that takes the whole Android experience up a level. Combined into this interface are Sony Ericsson’s new Mediascape and Timescape features. Timescape combines information from a wide range of sources such as messages, emails and social networking sites to provide a more intuitive interaction with your phone contacts, rather than having these services disjointed and unorganised.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10While there is a trend towards this sort of functionality among many phone manufacturers today, Mediascape will offer something new by attempting the same sort of thing with multimedia. Combining music and video from a range of sources such as PlayNow and YouTube, Mediascape should promise to revolutionise mobile phone entertainment.

As for Maemo; the Linux-based OS is raising eyebrows due to its groundbreaking web-oriented design. Phones making use of Maemo, which for the time being will unfortunately only be the N900, should completely change the way in which people access online content on their phones. With multi-tasking screens and a novel new browser the N900 is certainly one for the web surfers.

For anyone holding out for buying a new touchscreen phone in the New Year the choice is a tough one, but certainly falls between these two phones. While the N900 will offer exceptional web browsing the Xperia X10 will offer a better all round experience and that’s probably the deciding factor, for me at least.

Nokia N900 To Be Available In The US Sooner Than You Think

Nokia N900Nokia has today confirmed the availability of Nokia N900 in the United States following the official announcement that Nokia N900 is available for dispatch since last week. For those hoping that the Nokia N900 is going to be subsidized, I have bad news as it is confirmed that the mobile device will not be subsidized regardless of whether it is locked to a major carrier but instead will be sold independently SIM-free.

Following the specification made available to us, the Nokia N900 is furnished with full quad-band GSM support and 1700/2100/900/UMTS/HSDPA support regardless of which Region is being targeted. So our United States users should be getting 3G connection with T-Mobile USA, whereas AT&T subscribers will be only be able to use the EDGE network.

Alessandro Lamanna, Vice president, Retail Sales, Nokia confirmed during the press release, “Consumers from every segment of the population are looking for more out of their mobile device – more power, more ability, more connectivity. The Nokia N900 ushers in a new era with a very powerful mobile computer,” He also added “With an open source operating system, incorporated technology like an OMAP processor, and real time web widgets, the Nokia N900 delivers the experience of a pocket able computer that has the information you’re looking for right there waiting for you thanks to the ability to be connected just about anywhere.”

The Nokia N900 is already been dispatched to users who pre-ordered the device. For our United States users, Nokia N900 will be available very soon in New York and Chicago Nokia Flagship stores, Nokia USA stores, Various Independent retailer and e-tailers for a sultry sum of $649.

Touchscreen + Music = Nokia X6

Nokia X6Music just got better with the unveiling of the Nokia X6, which has a 3.2 inch touchscreen and 32 GB of internal memory in addition to 35 hours of continuous music playback. As if all this wasn’t mind – blowing enough, the design is just good enough to trash the Nokia 5800 and the likes. The phone has a really sleek and sexy design and the design is such that there is no way that you can keep your eyes of it. It is just under 14 mm thin, but this doesn’t indicate a lack of features as the variety of features is bound to leave you in no doubt whatsoever what you will get when the phone is released before Christmas. Better than this is the fact that the X6 will come with the Comes With Music service, meaning that you will be able to listen to as much music as you want without having to pay for it!

The 3.2 inch widescreen display has been optimized to view videos and photos, which shows that the phone isn’t just about music only. You can put upto 20 friends on your homescreen and you can also set the screen in such a way that you will get one – touch access to facebook as well as other social networks.

The other highlights of the phone include 16 days standby time, TV-out, 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash, online sharing, video editing, a full web browser, the Nokia Music store and support for Flash Lite. Can’t get enough of it? The spec’s sheet continues with Ovi Maps, A-GPS and Playlist DJ. If you are into games, then you can play DJ Mix Tour, Spore and Asphalt4.

The Nokia X6 should be available in the 4th quarter of 2009 for an estimated retail price of 420 pounds. Nokia X6 Reviews have been good, so make sure you have the cash in hand to purchase it when it is released or you could opt for a Nokia X6 contract instead.

Nokia N97 Mini promises to arrive with a bang

Nokia N97 MiniA lot of you who visit our website regularly, in addition to the people at Nokia Conversations, were quite skeptical of the 2 rounds of unofficial leaks with regard to the Mini and were wondering whether these pictures were actually true. A live preview of the phone, which was released in August, as well as an official announcement at the Nokia World 2009 in September, put all these rumours to rest. The Mini is a slightly pared down version of the flagship phone of Nokia, the Nokia N97. The Nokia N97 Mini Reviews have been extremely positive, so let’s see for ourselves whether the hype generated over the phone is actually worth it!

In keeping with the Mini tag, the phone has only 8 GB of internal memory, as opposed to the 32 GB internal memory which came with the N97. The D-pad has also gone AWOL in the Mini, resulting in a reduction in the size of the screen and the phone itself, including the keyboard. The keyboard has become too small to an extent where people with slightly big fingers might find it difficult to type on the keyboard. The camera module is also the same sans the lens cover, exposing it to dust and scratches.

However, on the brighter side, the phone has a metallic battery cover rather than the plastic one which came with the N97. The build is also more solid. Kinetic scrolling is also present, which is a real treat.

However, the biggest grouse people have with the phone is its pricing, which is just 100 euro less than that of the N97. In our opinion, this is justified as you can’t possibly sell the smaller brother of a flagship with a price difference of more than 100 euro, can you?

The phone is set to be released in October with a price of 300 euro (£275) before subsidies and taxes, so watch out for it and also all the great Nokia N97 Mini deals that will come on offer during that time.

Nokia 5800 comes in its newest avatar, the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition

Nokia 5800 Navigation EditionLast August, Nokia had formally announced the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition through Nokia Conversations, which is a variant of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic with some navigation – dedicated features. The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition Reviews have been quite positive, so let’s see what the fuss is all about.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic was an unqualified success, breaking all sorts of records in sales. Therefore, Nokia decided to build on the success of this phone and brought in the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition. The only notable difference in the phone itself is the presence of a lifetime subscription to the ‘Drive and Walk’ service. When looking at the retail package, it has 2 new additions in the form of a trendy – looking stand for holding your phone on the dashboard of your car and a car charger to ensure that you can charge your phone wherever you go. The presence of the stand will enable you to use the phone as a dedicated SatNav device.

The colour scheme is the only other difference between the original edition and the Navigation edition, according to the data sheet of the phone. The Navigation edition of the phone will be released in a Black and Chrome scheme instead of the blue and red of the original edition.

There will be 3 different versions of the phone released. All 3 of the versions share a common feature in the support for quad-bad GSM networks. WLAN and 3G with support for HSDPA connectivity will be present in two of the versions. The last one won’t have these 2 connectivity options, presumably because will be shipped to the Chinese or emerging markets.

The phone will be released in the 3rd quarter of this year for £236 before any adjustments to the price, and at that time there will be many great Nokia 5800 NE contracts for you to choose from.

Nokia Booklet 3G. Give up the day job

Actors should never, ever try and start a singing career.

Singers should never, ever try and start an acting career.

IT workers should never attempt to become escorts.

Footballers should never do… well, anything at all in public ever.

The list of inadvisable career changes out there is endless. So when we heard that a mobile phone manufacturer was going to be releasing a laptop, we scoffed heartily.

However, once we’d wiped the mushed up cereal and milk goo from our screens (warning: never scoff too hard when eating breakfast) we read further and found that the manufacturer in question was Nokia and that their choice of thing-to-make was a netbook. Hmmm, we then said, once we’d swallowed. Hmmm indeed.

And ever since that day we’ve been shifting nervously in our dried cereal covered seats waiting for the day when more details about this fabled netbook arrived, and hark, that day is here, because now the Nokia Booklet 3G is all, like, official and spec’ed up. Have a look at the official page, or at this Nokia Booklet 3G review, if you don’t believe us.

So what of these details, what can we read into the specs? Well, lots. Mostly good, once not so good. All the good bits you’ll find in the reviewy type links above, but these all become exceptionally impressive when you add them to just how darn good this thing looks. It looks like a high class laptop, while most netbooks look like cheap platicky things at best, poor kid’s toys at worst. Then there’s the Nokia 3G Booklet’s battery. Or it’s BATTERY, we should say. 12 hours of use from a single charge? Yes please, sailor, yes please indeed.

As always in this life of ours, there is one gripe: that of price. There’s nothing official out there just as yet, but our keen blogging ears are picking up something along the lines of £500. Which, when you can pick up the likes of the NC10 for half that, might be a sticking point. Speaking of sticking points… we fancy some cereal. So, off to the video below for you lot.

Nokia N900. Pocket rocket. Clock it. Don’t knock it

A computer in your pocket… A PC in the palm of your hand… A desktop on the go…

You’ve heard them all in relation to mobile phones before and you’ve become weary. So weary you can barely even get up these days, in fact. So tired with the lies and the self-aggrandising and posturing of all these mobile phone manufacturers, in fact, that you’re not even sure how you can carry on any more.

Well, our despondent friend, the answer is: you should carry merrily on along life’s highway with one of these in your pocket, because the N900 is just what all these other chumps have been promising and failing to deliver all along. Okay, so it’s not actually a PC, not really as powerful as a desktop, not in essence a computer. But, in terms of mobile phone computing, there is simply nothing that even comes close. Linux-powered, 1GB of processing RAM, a hefty graphics card, high speed internet access, up to 48GB storage… we’ve four laptops sat around here from only a couple of years ago that are cowering behind filing cabinets in fear of this thing.

But the best thing about all of the above is that you can happily ignore it. Because another thing manufacturers will do is stick lots of impressive stats in your face, shout and scream about this and that, but when it comes down to it, the thing doesn’t actually work very well. Worried about that with the Nokia N900? Then just have a look at the video below.

Nuff said, right?

Well, after this Nokia N900 review, and then after this official stats page. Then that is mos’ def’ nuff said. A’ight?
