LG and Motorola Will Release First Androids This Year

LG GW620By the end of 2009 we are likely to see at least two Androids from both LG and Motorola, as Google speculated would happen earlier this year.

October guarantees us the release of both companies first ever Android mobile phones, Motorola’s “Shules” and LG’s “GW620”, both of which boast full QWERTY keyboards, 5 mega pixel cameras with auto focus, inbuilt GPS, wi-fi and a touch screen – both in a flip style design.

Detailed specs on both can be found at Which.co.uk.

The epic battle between the two Android mobile phones will be an interesting and intense one, with both phones boasting almost identical features, and both LG and Motorola choosing to aim the phone at buyers who prefer using their phones to social network and message above all else.

LG has the advantage of a larger following than Motorola in recent years, however if Motorola makes the Shules available on a cheaper plan than the GW620 it may see a return to the former glory it enjoyed in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The one innovation Motorola has made has been “Motoblur”; something Motorola claims is a technology unique to it, allowing a person to sync up their contacts, photos and messages from Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace.

While LG boasts no such uniquely new and useful technology, it has stated that it has plans to release a whopping 13 new smartphone handsets over the coming 16 months, and is expected to unveil another three Windows Mobile smartphones within the next month, meaning they will offer a much greater choice to customers.

Stay tuned, as we’ll report more on Motorola VS LG after both phones hit the shelves in October.

LG’s BL40 Chocolate – Gearing up as it Nears the Market

lgchoccy003With the official announcement of its release by the last quarter of the year, we are still awaiting price and technical information about LG’s new Chocolate phone. Official photos of the LG BL40 Chocolate released by the Korean phone maker LG reveal a few interesting details the company is silent about.  We all have speculated on its large widescreen which is also a touchscreen but it not appears to be a vibrant and superb 4-inch 800×345 pixel LCD screen that is identical to the Nokia E90.  An accelerometer sensor should be there as the photos show the BL40 in both landscape and portrait orientation.

Fashion Phone Extraordinaire

There’s a front camera indicating it supports 3G and a close look at the icons, if they are actually the homescreen icons, it reveals support for WiFi, Bluetooth and stereo FM radio on top of the usual smartphone features we often take for granted.  At the back is a 5-megapixel camera with flash and a Schneider-Kreusnach lens.

All these features get houses in a slim and sexy profile that gets accentuated by a long and narrow black body accommodating its huge 21:9 display.  Think Hershey chocolate candy bar.  And you get the LG BL40 chocolate in the same form and thinness.  This may go down in mobile phone history as the longest and thinnest smartphone to come out of the LG factory.

The huge widescreen display gives the BL40 its signature look and according to LG, gives real advantage when browsing.  Its “real VGA” display technology is expected deliver high definition images and video to put users on a much higher viewing plain on their mobile experience. Its proprietary S-class OS and UI puts the expansive screen to use with its dual display mode of differing content types at the same time.

Soon to appear in the market

LG has announced availability of the LG BL40 Chocolate by the end of 3rd quarter 2009.  That means September.  So it shouldn’t be long after all that speculation and anticipation.

LG BL40 Chocolate. Lipsmacking

Described as a “pretty supernatural being rising out of your pockets”, we have to wonder if the LG BL40 has gone too far. If it’s just a little bit too pretty. A little bit too sleek. The touchscreen a touch too large. Fair enough Toshiba smacked us around the head with the 4.1-inch screened TG01 recently, but the 4-inch LG BL40 Chocolate takes “look-at-me” look to a whole new level. Which is not an entirely bad thing, of course. If that’s the kind of reaction you want. Us? We’d be terrified of putting this thing in our pocket. Actually, we’d be slightly worried about fitting it in there in the first place. But given the amount of gravel, keys, change and other detritus stuffed into our jeans, we’d feel bad about putting this space-age object in there. It’d be like parking a Ferrari in a tiny garage filled with rusty watering cans and rotten potatoes. Not right, basically.

We don’t doubt this thing is going to find a very appreciative audience for these kinds of LG BL40 Chocolate deals. The BL40 is an absolute stonker of phone in many, many respects, even away from that VGA / 21:9 / etc etc. screen it’s got on board. With all the GPS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA and customisable options you’d expect from the very best phones out there, there’s simply nothing that this thing lacks. Apart from… well… modesty. And fair enough, not everyone wants there phone to be modest or simple. Some like to accessorise as much with their phone as they do with their clothes. If you feel that might well be you, then start wetting your lips: this thing’s due out in a couple of months. Check out this LG BL40 review, or have a look at the video below.

August Mobile phone bargain contracts

So the summer is coming to an end, yet we seem to be enjoying some rare sunshine here in the UK. To celebrate this rarity we have decided to put together a list of our 8 favourite mobile phones and the best deals that are available with them. We might make this a regular feature, it just depends how useful you guys think it is. So let’s get started.
1. Nokia N97 deals – The hottest Nokia mobile phone out there right now. Yes it has a few problems, but nothing a few firmware updates will sort out. You can get a free ipod shuffle on T-Mobile with 800 minutes and unlimited texts for under £40.00 per month.
2. HTC Hero deals – Android is the way forward and the HTC Hero is the best of the lot. At £15 per month cheaper than the N97 it is worthy of the number 2 spot. You do only get 400 minutes per month though.
3. HTC Touch diamond 2 deals – much improved from the original Diamond, we really like the interface on this phone. £30.00 per month on O2 is the one to beat here, with 400 minutes and 500 texts.
4. Sony W995 deals – The best Sony Ericsson phone available in the market at the moment. You get music, camera and a sleek design all rolled into one. And for a little of £21.00 per month on Orange we think that it is a bargain.
5. Blackberry 8520 deals -No list would be complete without a Blackberry. The new 8520 is a slimmer sleeker version of the older models and we are very impressed with it. There is a deal with Orange offering £170 cashback on a £35.00 per month deal, so now is the time to grab this one whilst its cheap.
6. Nokia 5530 deals – Wow this is a cheap mobile phone. Vodafone are offering this one with 600 minutes and unlimited texts for just £21.00 per month, an absolute bargain.
7. Samsung Jet deals – The new addition to Android community has been well received and if you are looking for an alternative to HTC this one needs to be considered. Grab it O2 for £29.35 per month on O2 or £21.20 on Orange if you don’t mind cashback deals.
8. Nokia N86 deals – Gamers delight in this fabulous handset. Yes there are cheaper Nokia phones out there, but if you like to game then this one is a must. Vodafone are offering it for £31.00 with 600 minutes unlimited texts.
So there you have it our run down of the best mobile phones with the best deals. It is probably worth bearing in mind that these offer change quickly so grab them whilst they are still around.

LG GW300. Good time happy phone

You should count yourselves very lucky, you know, that this blog is so coherent. Not in terms of, say, most of literature, of course. But in comparison to a huge heap of steaming blogs out there, you should feel pretty glad you found this one. During our research for the LG GW300, for example, we found some absolute gems. It might interest you to learn that, “the device aims at the users who dote of messaging services, whether for business, entertainment or leisure pass time activities.”

So there we are then. Does that help? Do you now understand what the LG GW300 is all about. Are you one who dotes on messaging services?

Let us translate for you instead: this thing has just about nothing going for it apart from the QWERTY keyboard stuck to it, and the fact that it’s going to be crazy cheap. But before you stop reading, consider that this is the very point. Because those who ‘dote’ on things like SMS, emails and status updates, are of course the younger folk out there (that’s according to GSM Arena and most other more articulate sites out there), and they are going to dote over the price tag of this thing big time. They won’t care about the lack of just about everything else (GPS, 3G, WiFI, etc.), they’ll just be glad their thumbs get to tappety-tap on a proper keyboard for the price of a couple of weeks pocket money. So there we have it. In a slightly more understandable nutshell than the one quoted above. Check out this LG GW300 review if you want even more non-crazy English opinions on this thing.

LG GC990 Louvre. Welcome to rumour town

Well well well, would you look at this… a genuine, no messing, real as real can be rumour, straight from us to you. This isn’t one of those fake rumours either. One of those, oohhh, have you heard about this phone that Sony Ericsson have just started whispering about whilst at the same time launching a multi-million pound campaign. Oh no, this is a rumour that comes with only two grainy photos, no video, and even an official denial of sorts. That’s right, because the LG Louvre is not even confirmed as definitely even being an actual phone yet, still as it is in concept stage, as this LG suit warbled on recently: “The LG Louvre GC990 is a great example of the type of mobile technology innovation LG is developing. This is a concept model only however, and as such there are no confirmed plans to bring it to market. As we have further details on our camera-phone portfolio or other mobiles, LG will provide information on where and when they will be available to consumers.”

So, will it get released and join the rank of LG mobile phones? Course it will, especially seeing as how gullible blogging types like us are swooning over this thing with more drool than a sour sweet tasting convention. Because this is the first of the so-called (by us) supercameraphones that actually looks like it might be a super cameraphone. Others (the Satio, one of the Omnias with lots of numbers in its title that we forget) may have had 12 megapixels or the ability to record HD video too, but the GC990 manages both. And judging by the look of the back of the thing (get image searching if you don’t believe us) it also looks more like a camera than anything else we’ve ever seen.

So there we have it… if this thing wasn’t so new, in fact, we’d be pointing you towards a video to watch, but there’s nothing even out there, apart from this LG Louvre review.

LG GC900 Viewty Smart

101243_lg-viewty-smart-gc900-11LG saw its newly introduced LG Viewty achieve great success at the Mobile World Conference and decided to add a latest member to the line, naming it the LG Viewty Smart. However the new model is attached an extra identity in its name tag. So ultimately it’s named as LG GC900 Viewty Smart. Judging by the success the first model of the Viewty line achieved at the MWC this year at Barcelona, we can safely assume that the LG GC900 Viewty Smart would also emerge to be a popular mobile phone among the mobile phone community. However LG has not yet released any detailed official information on it.

According to what we heard the LG GC900 Viewty Smart surely carries some interesting features that would keep the users fully satisfied. The 3D effects of the new S-Class UI will wrap you around its fingers and will give you the ideal comfort in maneuvering up and down your menus. Also, the 3inch WVGA screen is touch-sensitive. Coming down to probably the best feature about this phone, its 8megapixel camera hosts a Schneider Kreuznach lens and gives you variety of miscellaneous facilities such as autofocus, face-smile-blink detection, the accelerometer which orientates the screen to the angle you hold the phone), and importantly the Xenon flash. The A-GPS allows the photos taken to be geo tagged, although it’s not confirmed yet if the same GPS will enable any navigational tools. The camera also can be used for video capturing which can shoot on normal speed as well as slow motion.

You can use 7.2Mbps HSDPA internet connectivity to download content from the internet faster. Apart from that, there is also WiFi and Bluetooth also. It is still too early to predict anything about the release date however the LG Viewty Smart is a long way off according to CNET. This however gives you time to get a head start to look for a LG GC900 Viewty Smart contracts that is going to be available once it hits the market. LG GC900 Viewty Smart contracts and deals bring you the best when it comes to special offers and tariffs. These LG GC900 Viewty Smart deals are regularly updated so once the phone actually hits the market you can get the most updated deals that are offered by the service providers.
