BlackBerry Storm 2 off to another network after Vodafone exclusive stint

BlackBerry Storm 2After a successful stint with the Apple iPhone and snitching an exclusive collaboration with UK’s Research In Motion (RIM), Vodafone will be with Blackberry’s Storm 2 for a few weeks. Although not for long.

This would be Vodafone’s second working with Blackberry to establish itself in the touchscreen smartphone market for a £ 35 monthly fee for 24 months. The first time was not as successful as the touchscreen features was heavily criticized since its release late in 2008.

Moving with RIM’s demand that the device be made for other operators, Vodafone will only have the handset exclusive in the United Kingdom. The company’s two-year exclusive deal with the iPhone of Apple in the UK paved way for the demand.

As of writing, there is no clear indication that UK operators will be stocking Storm 2 for the upcoming holidays. Instead, it’s more likely iPhone shipments will push through early in 2010. There’s no hushing speculations that Orange will be named the other network where the Vodafone offering will be made available in the next few weeks.

Storm 2 was also reported ready for launching in Germany, the Netherlands and four other European nations, including UK, in South Africa and also in Canada. It still has the original Surepress technology which generated heavy blasting for its taxing methods of use. But this time, it has four Surepress sensors at each corner of the screen. Among its touchscreen are the most important individual buttons.

With its appreciated features of the older version come the Wi-Fi capability, and improved microSD cards and stereo headset jack.

For its part, handset manufacturer RIM is keen on clearing the negative criticisms of the Storm 2 and expanding its market of business-oriented users who rely largely on email exchanges through their devices.
